Lakeside Shakespeare Festival Committee

Are you interested in getting involved in supporting the Lakeside Shakespeare Festival? We're looking for volunteers to join our Festival Committee, a working group made up of volunteers and Festival staff. This is a great way to get involved and support the Lakeside Shakespeare Festival all year round.
Time commitment & meetings
Monthly meetings: 1 hour
Volunteer responsibilities outside of committee meetings will average 2 hours/month, ranging from meeting prep, acting as an ambassador for Lakeside Shakespeare Festival in your communities, connecting staff to your network of community members, and supporting the production & marketing of shows.
Based on your availability and interests, this could look like:

Supporting the Board of Directors in finding donated housing for cast and crew

Connecting staff and Board to community members to grow reach of Festival (in both Chicago & Northern Michigan)

Soliciting donations and/or business sponsorships

Supporting the dissemination of casting calls in Chicago

Spreading the word for kid’s acting camps & internships in Northern Michigan

Hanging posters, disseminating handouts

Volunteering to sell merchandise or concessions at shows

Lakeside Shakespeare Festival Committee membership is a volunteer role. Thank you for supporting our project to grow opportunities for live theatre in Northern Michigan!
The World's a Stage Board of Directors

General

Support program initiatives, work in the best interest of the organization, and help steer The World’s a Stage in the right direction to fulfill its mission and values sustainably and feasibly.

Act as an ambassador for The World’s a Stage and its programs (Lakeside Shakespeare Festival, for example) within your personal networks and help The World’s a Stage expand its networks to new people. This might include opportunities to present about The World’s a Stage to groups, network, and make introductions to The World’s a Stage staff to potential supporters.

Act as support and an ally to The World’s a Stage staff & volunteers.

Each Board Member is asked to make a personal financial contribution to The World’s a Stage each year in an amount that is meaningful to them.
Governance
-
Understand the legal, governance, and fiscal responsibilities of serving on a nonprofit’s Board of Directors. Ensure The World’s a Stage compliance with federal & state nonprofit laws.

Come to Board meetings prepared & participate actively, follow through on assignments.

Serve on committees as necessary.

Elect officers and fill vacancies according to the rules laid out in The World’s a Stage bylaws.

Create and update policies and procedures for the governance and operations of The World’s a Stage that are in the organization’s best interest.
Fundraising

Formulate and approve fundraising projects.

Actively participate in fundraising campaigns.
Finance & personnel

Approve budgets, approve hiring of director level staff.

Appoint such employees and/or agents as may be necessary to conduct business of the Corporation.

Authorize bank account access and signing checks to key staff.

Collaborate to create program budgets.
